Over the alps to karnten
After a lovely time in Salzburg it was time to head to Klagenfurt to visit my aunty Christal and uncle Albert. Heini and Ricki drove us down. Klagenfurt is close to the Austrian/Italian border.we went from went through the mountains and saw the first snows of autumn. Funnily we weren't cold but everyone else was rugged up like they were skiing and we had summer sandals and tshirts. I picked up my first snow in a long time. On the way we also saw a no. of schloss ( castles) . We've seen so many it's a little less exciting than at the beginning of our journey. But they are still cool!

Klagenfurt by day
This day was a rest day ,but we went into the old city for a look at Klagenfurt , before saying a final farewell to Heini and Ricki as they head to Italy to visit my cousin Silke, who lives in Pordenove in Italy .
We saw the Klagenfurt wurm( a type of dragon) which is the symbol of the area and made a wish from the lucky gnome.

Viktring in Klagenfurt
After arriving and a welcome coffee and topfenstrudel ( a scrumptious cheese strudel ), we went for a short walk to the local school that my cousins went to that was originally a monastery . It has an amazing church that dates back originally to roman times but was added on in the Byzantine period with splendid glass windows and vaulted ceilings. The organ alone was a work of art.

Max Glan Festival and family dinner!
Max Glan is the suburb that my family live in and aunty Klara invited us to her flat and we then went to the festival for lunch and a walk. It was nice with wurst and sauerkraut for lunch and cherry torte and chocolate Mozart pretzels for afters. We also had a farewell dinner at Laschenskys a local hofbrau (public house) that has connections to our family.
Our drive to many of the lakes around Salzburg
Uncle Heini took us to ano. Of the lovely lakes that surround Salzburg, and the way we visited my cousin norberts new house in Fuschl (I hope I spelt it correctly) and Schloss -Ladl and Wolfgang See for an obligatory beer and ice cream. A lovely day in all.
